'Stuff the Bus' Aug. 3-4

unitedwayWith school starting soon, the United Way will hold its annual “Stuff the Bus” events to collect school supplies for children in need throughout the region.

School buses will be parked outside Walmarts Friday, Aug. 3, and Saturday, Aug. 4, at the following locations: Alma, Booneville, Fort Smith, Greenwood, Ozark, Paris, Sallisaw and Van Buren.

‘Tax-free weekend’ Aug. 3-4

Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus will host a “tax-free weekend” Saturday, Aug. 4, and Sunday, Aug. 5, in conjunction with the sales tax holiday across the state.

During the 48-hour period, sales tax is not collected on school supplies, school art supplies, school instructional materials, clothing and footwear less than $100 per item and clothing accessories less than $50.
