PR Students Apply Lessons to Benefit ATU Department

PR Students Spring 2022
Arkansas Tech University students (wearing red badges, from left-to-right) Samantha Ballew, Madelyn Hubbard and Moneshia Morris spoke to students at Dardanelle High School about opportunities in the ATU Department of Communication and Journalism.

Public relations students at Arkansas Tech University gained hands-on experience by creating and implementing communications plans for real clients during the spring 2022 semester.

The team of Samantha Ballew, Madelyn Hubbard and Moneshia Morris developed public relations strategies and tactics for the ATU Department of Communication and Journalism. Their plan included outreach in local high schools.

Ballew, Hubbard and Morris are students in Megan Toland’s senior-level public relations project class.

According to the ATU Department of Communication and Journalism web page, the public relations option within the Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism “offers students a cohort experience where they develop critical thinking, strategic planning, writing and design skills.”
