Dr. H. Micheal Tarver, professor of history at Arkansas Tech University, is one of eight 2022 recipients of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society Distinguished Service Award.
Tarver was selected as this year’s honoree from Alpha Chi Region II in recognition of his service to the organization through ATU and regional activities.
Alpha Chi is open to university and college seniors, and graduate students from all disciplines who are in the top ten percent of their classes. Founded in 1922, Alpha Chi is active on almost 300 campuses nationwide and its chapters induct approximately 10,000 students each year.
Tarver has served on the ATU faculty since 2002. He was head of the ATU Department of History and Political Science from 2002-09 and dean of the ATU College of Arts and Humanities from 2010-13. He is currently in his second term as chair of the Arkansas History Commission.
