Workshops Help Students Prepare for Job Hunt

Students once again have the chance to participate in the “Invest in Yourself” workshop series.  The series is designed to help students polish skills needed to find a job after graduation.

During the workshops, students receive instruction on interviewing skills, resume writing, proper work attire and etiquette skills.

Dr. David Boop, director of career services at Arkansas Tech, says neglecting to perfect professional polishing skills could cost students a position.  He adds, “In today’s competitive job market, it’s critical that students take advantage of every opportunity to set themselves apart from the competition.  This series gives students the tools necessary to make a positive and lasting first impression.”

Boop says the series is offered each semester at Arkansas Tech, but space is limited to ensure students receive “personal attention” on the skills discussed during the sessions.

The complete schedule for the workshop series is as follows:

  • Interviewing Skills & Resume Workshop
    Dates: Monday, March 1, at 3:00 p.m. or Thursday, March 4, at 3:00 p.m.
    Location: Doc Bryan Room 242
  • Professional Image and Interview Process
    Dates: Monday, March 15, at 3:00 p.m.
    Location: Chambers Cafeteria East
  • Business Etiquette and Conversation
    Dates: Monday, April 5, at 5:30 p.m. 
    Location: Williamson Hall Dining Room

The fee to attend the workshop series is $15, which covers the meal served at the Williamson Hall Dining Room.
