Wonder Boys Win Opening GAC Series

Arkansas Tech University took two games from Ouachita Baptist University during a three-game Great American Conference baseball series at Rab Rodgers Field in Arkadelphia on Saturday and Sunday.

The Wonder Boys (5-6 overall, 2-1 GAC) will return to action on Monday, Feb. 18, with a single non-conference game against Union University.

Game One: Tech 15, OBU 2

Tristan Thomas went 3-for-5 with a home run and six runs batted in to lead Arkansas Tech to a 15-2 victory over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday.

Zack Kesterson drove in three runs and Garrett Kochakian notched two RBIs for the Wonder Boys.

ATU starting pitcher Isaac Hale (2-0) allowed two runs on five hits over six and one-third innings.

Game Two: Tech 8, OBU 0

Hayes Cox pitched a three-hit shutout and Arkansas Tech completed a Saturday doubleheader sweep by topping Ouachita Baptist 8-0.

Cox (1-2) struck out two Tigers over seven innings of work.

Tech’s Dylan McDearmon was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Kesterson also drove in two runs.

Game Three: OBU 9, Tech 8

Louis Steen’s go-ahead RBI in the bottom of the eighth inning propelled Ouachita Baptist to a 9-8 triumph over Arkansas Tech on Sunday.

Michael Post went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and Korey Thompson homered for the Wonder Boys.
