An avalanche of runs in the series finale allowed Arkansas Tech University to win its Great American Conference series against Ouachita Baptist University on Friday and Saturday at Tech Field in Russellville.
The Wonder Boys defeated the Tigers 7-6 Friday night behind Cody Wescott’s walk-off, RBI single up the middle.
Jakahari Howell responded for Ouachita Baptist with a seventh-inning grand slam in game one on Saturday that propelled the Tigers to a 6-4 victory.
No late heroics were necessary for Arkansas Tech in an 11-0 win in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader. Harry Gard was 4-for-4 with three runs scored, Connor Brady had three runs batted in and Hayes Cox pitched a four-hit shutout for the Wonder Boys, who improved to 10-7 overall and 5-4 in the GAC.
Arkansas Tech will continue the Great American Conference portion of its 2018 baseball schedule by visiting Henderson State University for a three-game set at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia on Sunday, March 11, and Monday, March 12.
