Dunbar's Career Night Lifts Wonder Boys

Jeremy Dunbar scored a career-high 22 points and the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys got a much-needed pre-holiday victory by defeating the North Alabama Lions 75-57 at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Friday night.

Dunbar (photographed) hit a 3-pointer with 3.4 seconds left in the first half to give Arkansas Tech (7-3) a 33-30 lead at the intermission.

The Wonder Boys carried that momentum over, opening the second half on a 21-8 run to claim a 54-38 edge with 13:35 to go.

North Alabama scored five straight points to cut Tech’s lead to 61-50 at the 8:31 mark, but the Wonder Boys answered with 12 unanswered points to put it away.

Arkansas Tech won just 24 hours after suffering an 83-76 loss to nationally sixth-ranked Alabama-Huntsville. The game against North Alabama was the Wonder Boys’ final outing for 13 days because of the holiday break.

Dunbar was 7-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range.

Laithe Massey had 12 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals for Arkansas Tech. Johnie Davis added 11 points and five assists, while Willie Sanders netted 10 points.

Beaumont Beasley scored 21 points for North Alabama (4-7).

The Wonder Boys will be off from game action for the holidays until Dec. 30, when they will host Mid-America Nazarene for a 5:30 p.m. contest at Tucker Coliseum.
