Pillow's Big 2nd Half Lifts Wonder Boys

Marcus Pillow scored 13 of his team-high 15 points after halftime to lead the nationally No. 1-ranked Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys to a 71-61 win over the Ouachita Baptist Tigers at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Thursday night.

Pillow (photographed) was 3-of-6 from 3-point range as the Wonder Boys (24-0 overall, 11-0 Gulf South Conference) matched their best start to a season ever.

The only other time Tech started a men’s basketball season 24-0 was the 1952-53 season.

The Wonder Boys maintained their two-game lead over Delta State for first place in the GSC West Division with only three games left in the regular season.

Brandon Friedel added 14 points and Laithe Massey had 10 points for Arkansas Tech.

Olden Jordan led OBU (6-18, 2-9) with 20 points.

The Wonder Boys will visit Delta State for a 6 p.m. contest in Cleveland, Miss., on Saturday.

Russellville radio station KWKK 100.9 FM will have the broadcast, which will also be streamed over the Internet at www.athletics.atu.edu.
