Causey Shines in Wonder Boys' Victory

Arkansas Tech’s James Causey scored a career-high 17 points in an 87-65 Wonder Boys’ victory over the Lambuth Eagles at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Saturday night.

Causey (photographed) was 7-of-12 from the field, 2-of-3 from 3-point range and 1-of-2 at the free throw line. He also had five rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocked shots.

Nationally 13th-ranked Arkansas Tech (2-1) outscored Lambuth 12-4 over the final 5:51 of the first half to take a 39-26 lead at the intermission.

The Wonder Boys carried that momentum over to the second half. Tech opened the period on a 12-3 run to claim a 51-29 edge with 17:04 remaining.

The margin never dipped below 17 points the rest of the way as the Wonder Boys improved to 2-0 at home this season.

Tech’s Jeremy Dunbar scored 12 points, while Jared Williamson and Johnie Davis notched 10 points apiece.

James Giles added nine points and six rebounds. Ridas Pulkauninkas contributed nine points and five rebounds.

Lambuth’s Nakeem Floyd scored a team-high 15 points. Shaun Merriweather (14 points), Antwan Long (13 points) and Devance Harris (11 points and 10 rebounds) also reached double figures in scoring for the Eagles (0-2).

The Wonder Boys will host Ecclesia College for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference game on Monday, Nov. 22.
