Wonder Boys Vault to No. 15 in D-II

Nine consecutive wins — including two over nationally-ranked teams — have allowed the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys to capture the attention of voters for the National Association of Basketball Coaches NCAA Division II top 25 poll.

The Wonder Boys (15-3 overall, 6-0 Gulf South Conference) are ranked No. 15 in the 10th poll of the season, which was released on Tuesday, Feb. 1.

Arkansas Tech matched 14th-ranked Humboldt State (Calif.) for the biggest move forward in the latest poll. Both teams advanced eight spots to land in the top 15.

The Wonder Boys hold sole possesion of first place in the GSC West Division after wins over then 19th-ranked Harding (85-55) and Ouachita Baptist (83-73) last week.

This week marks the 20th week that Arkansas Tech has been ranked in the men’s NCAA Division II top 25 since the beginning of the 2009-10 season. Only five polls during that span have not included the Wonder Boys.

Tech will play two home games this week. The Wonder Boys will host Henderson State at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, and Southern Arkansas at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5. Tickets will be available at the door and those with a valid Tech identification card will be admitted free.
