Wonder Boys Top Miners 5-2 in Opener

Arkansas Tech starting pitcher Josh Floriani struck out seven and the Wonder Boys got production from every part of the lineup in a 5-2 win over the Missouri S&T Miners in game one of a baseball doubleheader at Tech Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Floriani (3-0) allowed just one run on four hits in five and one-third innings. The right-hander surrendered just one walk.

Tech (7-4) got out to an early 3-0 lead on first-inning RBIs from Matt Johnson, Colt Loehrs and Joe Walton.

Landon Sullins drove in a run with a single in the bottom of the third and later scored on a double steal to make it 5-0.

The Wonder Boys steered it home from there behind the pitching of Floriani and reliever Addison Rayford, who worked the final one and two-thirds innings.
