Wonder Boys To Play Two in Florida

Arkansas Tech University will wrap up the pre-holiday break portion of its 2015-16 men’s basketball schedule by participating in the Florida Tech Winter Classic on Friday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 19.

The Wonder Boys (5-2) will take on Nova Southeastern University at 3:30 p.m. (CST) Friday and Florida Tech at 1:30 p.m. (CST) Saturday.

Both games can be heard over KCJC 102.3 FM and www.arkansastechsports.com.

Arkansas Tech will enter the classic on a four-game winning streak. The Wonder Boys earned victories over Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Missouri Southern State University, Oklahoma Baptist University and Southern Nazarene University between Nov. 21-Dec. 5.

When Tech takes the floor on Friday, it will be its first regular season game in 13 days.

Junior guards Marquis Yates (15.0 points per game) and Thomas Alexander (11.4 points per game) are the Wonder Boys’ top scorers.

Nova Southeastern (4-4) has won two of its last three games. The Sharks are led by senior forward Chris Page, who averages 20.8 points per game.

Florida Tech (8-2) has scored 90 or more points in six of its first 10 games. Six Panthers average double figures in scoring.

After their trip to Florida, the Wonder Boys will break for the holidays and return to game action on Saturday, Jan. 2, for a non-conference game against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
