Wonder Boys Throttle Delta State 90-59

Nationally 12th-ranked Arkansas Tech used a 33-4 spurt in the first half to run away from the Delta State Statesmen 90-59 in men’s basketball action at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Saturday night.

The Wonder Boys (21-3 overall, 12-0 Gulf South Conference) opened a 41-13 lead with 5:17 left in the first half and never looked back. Tech led 48-15 at halftime and by as many as 47 points in the second half.

Johnie Davis (20 points) and Jeremy Dunbar (19 points) led the Wonder Boys. They were a combined 9-of-19 from 3-point range.

Laithe Massey added 11 points and eight assists for Arkansas Tech, which won its 15th consecutive men’s basketball game. The Wonder Boys maintained sole possession of first place in the GSC West Division.

Jamarkus Holt had 13 points and 12 rebounds for Delta State (13-12, 7-5), which played without leading scorer Phil Turner.

The Wonder Boys will visit Harding for a 7:30 p.m. GSC contest at Rhodes Field House in Searcy on Thursday, Feb. 24.
