Wonder Boys Take Series From SOSU

Arkansas Tech University clinched a series victory by defeating Southeastern Oklahoma State University 6-3 in the first game of a Great American Conference doubleheader at Tech Field in Russellville on Saturday.

The Wonder Boys (24-14 overall, 19-5 GAC) won 2-of-3 games in the series. They defeated the Savage Storm 5-4 on Friday night. Southeastern Oklahoma State salvaged the series finale 8-3 on Saturday afternoon.

Arkansas Tech will host Lyon College for a 6 p.m. non-conference game at Tech Field on Tuesday, April 11. Admission will be free. Live coverage will be available at www.arkansastechsports.com.

Game One: Tech 6, SOSU 3

Dylan McDearmon, Zach Klockowski and Mark Vaughn all hit a home run in Arkansas Tech’s 6-3 victory against Southeastern Oklahoma State in game one of Saturday’s twin bill.

Isaac Hale (3-4) pitched six scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. ATU reliever Jesse Harbin earned his sixth save of the season by working a scoreless ninth inning.

Game Two: SOSU 8, Tech 3

Luke Thomas’ two-run double in the top of the seventh inning gave Southeastern Oklahoma State the lead for good in an 8-3 win over Arkansas Tech in the final game of the series.

Cameron Roberts had three RBIs for the Savage Storm.

Tech’s McDearmon notched two hits in the loss.
