Wonder Boys Sweep Reddies at Baswell Field

Arkansas Tech University is tied for first place in the Great American Conference baseball standings after a three-game sweep of Henderson State University at Baswell Field in Russellville on Sunday and Monday.

ATU defeated the Reddies 10-6 and 4-3 during Sunday’s doubleheader and 8-3 in the series finale on Monday.

The Wonder Boys (9-6 overall, 5-1 GAC) are joined atop the league standings by Southern Arkansas University (9-4, 5-1).

Tech’s Tristan Thomas went 6-for-8 with a home run, six runs batted in and four runs scored during the sweep of the Reddies.

Jonathon Arrieta hit a grand slam during the series opener. Zack Kesterson delivered a walk-off RBI single in game two. Dylan McDearmon homered and drove in three runs on Monday.

Isaac Hale (3-0), Nolan Withrow (1-0) and Layton Robinson (1-1) earned wins on the mound durin g the HSU series.

The Wonder Boys will visit Delta State University for a two-game, non-conference series on Tuesday, Feb. 26, and Wednesday, Feb. 27.
