Wonder Boys, Scots Split in Batesville

Arkansas Tech University and Lyon College split a non-conference baseball doubleheader at Batesville on Tuesday.

The Wonder Boys (14-19) will host the University of Arkansas-Monticello for a three-game Great American Conference series at Tech Field in Russellville on Friday, April 1, and Saturday, April 2.

First pitch is set for 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. Radio station KCAB 97.1 FM/980 AM and www.arkansastechsports.com will have live coverage.

Game One: Lyon 4, Tech 3

Evan Johnson scored the winning run on a wild pitch to give Lyon College a 4-3 walk-off victory over Arkansas Tech in game one Tuesday.

Connor Brady, Collin O’Neil and Seth Wheeler had one run batted in apiece for the Wonder Boys.

Lyon reliever Trenton Coles pitched one and one-third innings of scoreless relief to earn the win on the mound.

Arkansas Tech’s Issac Hale (1-4) allowed one run on three hits over one and one-third innings of work.

Game Two: Tech 6, Lyon 1

Davis Wilson went 2-for-3 with a home run to help Arkansas Tech defeat Lyon College 6-1 in Tuesday’s nightcap.

Jake Loose (1-0) limited the Scots to one run on five hits over six innings in his first pitching appearance of the season for the Wonder Boys. Tech’s John Beck pitched a scoreless seventh inning to wrap up the win.

Lyon’s Ryan Lewis was saddled with the loss after he surrendered six runs, five of which were earned, on seven hits in four and two-thirds innings.
