Wonder Boys Ranked 19th in the Nation

Arkansas Tech University is ranked in the American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II top 25 poll for the first time in almost two years.

The Wonder Boys (2-0) entered the poll at No. 19 when the new rankings were announced on Monday, Sept. 11.

It is Tech’s first national football ranking since it was No. 24 on Oct. 12, 2015, and it is the Wonder Boys’ highest AFCA national ranking since they were 18th in the final poll of the 2009 season.

Arkansas Tech earned its latest spot in the national poll after wins over then nationally 22nd-ranked Southern Arkansas University and then nationally 23rd-ranked Henderson State University during the first two weeks of the 2017 season.

The Wonder Boys are tied with Ouachita Baptist University and Southeastern Oklahoma State University for first place in the Great American Conference standings.

ATU will host Oklahoma Baptist University for a 6 p.m. GAC contest at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field in Russellville on Saturday, Sept. 16.
