A 14-stroke improvement on day two as compared to day one sent Arkansas Tech University to an eighth-place finish among 18 men’s golf teams at the Las Vegas Desert Classic on Sunday and Monday.
The Wonder Boys recorded team scores of 297-283 for a 580 total. The University of West Florida won the team championship with a 36-hole score of 548.
Ryan Spurlock (T-23rd, 72-72-144) and Shawn Tsai (T-23rd, 72-72-144) were Tech’s top individual finishers.
Luke Cornett (T-31st, 76-70-146), Jonathan Echberg (T-31st, 77-69-146) and Julio Arguelles (T-81st, 80-76-156) also competed for the Wonder Boys in Las Vegas.
UWF’s Chandler Blanchet shot 66-66 for an 8-under par total of 132 and a three-stroke victory in the individual standings.
Arkansas Tech will host the Dave Falconer Classic March 13-14 at Chamberlyne Country Club in Danville.
