Great American Conference coaches have predicted a seventh-place finish for Arkansas Tech University in the 2017 GAC baseball standings.
The Wonder Boys received 65 points in the preseason poll, which was released on Thursday, Jan. 12.
Oklahoma Baptist University is the preseason favorite to win the GAC baseball title. The Bison received four first-place votes and 112 points to finish just in front of the University of Arkansas-Monticello (T-2nd, 101 points), Southwestern Oklahoma State University (T-2nd, 101 points) and Southern Arkansas University (4th, 96 points).
Henderson State University (5th, 82 points) and Southeastern Oklahoma State University (6th, 70 points) are the other teams picked to finish in front of Arkansas Tech.
Harding University (8th, 56 points), East Central University (9th, 39 points), Northwestern Oklahoma State University (10th, 30 points), Ouachita Baptist University (11th, 29 points) and Southern Nazarene University (12th, 11 points) completed the preseason GAC baseball poll.
Arkansas Tech was 24-31 overall and 11-21 in the GAC in 2016. The Wonder Boys finished eighth in the regular season standings before upsetting regular season champion Southwestern Oklahoma State in a three-game series to begin the 2016 GAC Tournament.
Head coach Dave Dawson’s 2017 Arkansas Tech team will begin its season by playing a three-game series at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, beginning on Friday, Feb. 3.
