Wonder Boys Lose Exhibition Game

Arkansas Tech University took a break from its 2015-16 men’s basketball regular season schedule on Saturday night and dropped an 86-48 exhibition decision to NCAA Division I member Stephen F. Austin University at Johnson Coliseum in Nacogdoches, Texas.

The Wonder Boys led 33-29 after a DeChriston McKinney layup at the 3:24 mark of the first half, but the Lumberjacks scored the final 10 points of the opening period to claim a 39-33 edge at the intermission.

Stephen F. Austin turned to its defense to secure the victory in the second half. The Lumberjacks held Arkansas Tech to 5-of-24 (21 percent) shooting from the field during the final 20 minutes, including 0-of-9 from 3-point range.

Andrew Guillory scored 13 points and Tyler Corley notched 12 points to lead the Wonder Boys.

Jared Johnson scored a game-high 16 points for Stephen F. Austin.

Arkansas Tech will resume its regular season schedule by participating in the 2015 Winter Classic at Florida Tech on Friday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 19. The Wonder Boys will face Nova Southeastern University at 3:30 p.m. (CST) Friday and Florida Tech at 1:30 p.m. (CST) Saturday.
