Wonder Boys Finish T-2nd in Missouri

Top-10 individual finishes by Luke Cornett and Ryan Spurlock helped Arkansas Tech University finish in a tie for second place in the team standings at the Missouri Western State University Holiday Inn Express Classic, which concluded on Tuesday at par-71 St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo.

Cornett fired rounds of 71-74-71 for a 3-over par total of 216 and a share of fourth place. Spurlock’s 54-hole total of 217 after he returned scores of 75-69-73 earned him sole possession of seventh place.

The Wonder Boys amassed a three-round team total of 876. Consistency was their hallmark in St. Joseph. Arkansas Tech had a team score of 292 in every round of the tournament.

The University of Central Missouri won the team title with a 54-hole total of 872. Southwestern Oklahoma State University tied the Wonder Boys in the runner-up position among a field of 16 teams.

Putter Srinoon (T-19th, 77-72-74-223), Austin Smith (21st, 71-79-74-224) and Bryce Burke (T-30th, 75-77-76-228) also represented Arkansas Tech.

The Wonder Boys will conclude the fall portion of their 2016-17 golf schedule by competing in the Midwestern State University Invitational in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Oct. 17-18.
