Wonder Boys Finish Sixth in Missouri

Bryce Burke and Austin Smith led Arkansas Tech University to a sixth-place finish among a field of 20 teams at the 2015 Holiday Inn Express / Missouri Western State University Classic at St. Joseph, Mo., on Monday and Tuesday.

Burke shot 70-73-75 for a 218 total and a share of fifth place in the individual standings. Smith finished tied for 11th place after rounds of 72-73-75 for a 54-hole score of 220.

The Wonder Boys posted team scores of 294-297-303 for an 894 total. The University of Central Missouri finished with a 54-hole team score of 871 and a three-stroke victory.

Julio Arguelles (T-42nd, 77-77-75-229) D.J. Godoy (T-42nd, 75-75-79-229) and Dylan Lovell (T-53rd, 78-76-78-232) also contributed to Arkansas Tech’s team score in St. Joseph.

Northeastern State University’s Brent Williamson was the individual champion. He returned scores of 71-70-69 for a 3-under par total of 210 and a one-stroke victory among a field of 100 players.

The Wonder Boys will conclude the fall portion of their 2015-16 golf schedule by competing in the Payne Stewart Invitational at Branson, Mo., Oct. 25-27.
