Difficult weather conditions on the final day caused Arkansas Tech University to slide down the leaderboard at the Newberry College Invitational men's golf tournament, which was played on Monday and Tuesday at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island in South Carolina.
The Wonder Boys were in second place following 36 holes after posting team scores of 284 and 295 on Monday, but ATU's final-round 335 on Tuesday led to a 10th-place finish among an 18-team field.
Winds were estimated at more than 20 miles per hour and temperatures were in the 40s during the final round.
Andre Jacobs (T-19th, 70-72-85-227), Austin Gean (T-28th, 71-74-84-229), Shawn Tsai (T-37th, 78-73-80-231), Francois Jacobs (T-66th, 71-79-86-236) and Kellen Gray (T-75th, 72-76-91-239) represented Arkansas Tech in its first spring tournament of the 2018-19 men's golf season.
The Wonder Boys will compete in the Arkansas Collegiate March 11-12 at Mystic Creek Country Club in El Dorado.
