Wonder Boys Face SOSU in GAC 1st Round

The Wonder Boys won six of their final seven regular season games to earn a fourth consecutive trip to Bartlesville. The late-season resurgence has corresponded with improved rebounding by Arkansas Tech. After only winning the rebounding category 11 times in their first 22 games, the Wonder Boys have out-rebounded five of their last six opponents. Arkansas Tech defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State 77-76 at Durant on Feb. 21. Senior guard Clarence Willard made a 35-foot shot at the buzzer to win it for the Wonder Boys. Tech trailed by 10 points with 4:35 remaining. Willard finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. It was the third recorded triple-double in Wonder Boys basketball history. About the Savage Storm: Southeastern Oklahoma State went 7-3 in its final 10 games to earn the No. 4 seed in the GAC Tournament. The Savage Storm’s zone defense allowed it to lead the conference in field goal percentage defense (.407) and blocked shots (4.6 per game) during the regular season. Southeastern Oklahoma State defeated Arkansas Tech 74-63 at Russellville on Jan. 15. The Savage Storm is seeking its first-ever men’s basketball win at the GAC Tournament.
