A 14-stroke improvement from day one to day two helped Arkansas Tech University’s men’s golf team finish third among a field of 15 teams at the University of Central Oklahoma Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
The Wonder Boys shot 313 as a team on Monday before bouncing back with a team score of 299 in the final round. Their two-day total of 612 at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond, Okla., was 15 strokes behind tournament champion and host Central Oklahoma.
Luke Cornett (T-4th, 78-70-148), Austin Gean (T-7th, 71-78-149), Putter Srinoon (T-25th, 79-76-155), Ryan Spurlock (T-52nd, 85-75-160) and Jackson Marseilles (T-75th, 88-81-169) represented Arkansas Tech in the tournament.
Tech’s Kellen Gray (T-40th, 83-75-158) and Shawn Tsai (T-56th, 78-84-162) competed in Edmond as individuals.
The Wonder Boys will continue their spring 2018 schedule April 2-3 at the Argonaut Invitational, which will be hosted by the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla.
