Wonder Boys Defeat Error-Prone Muleriders

Arkansas Tech University’s Tristan Thomas, Jason Hastings and Matt Robbins drove in three runs apiece on Tuesday to lead the Wonder Boys to a 16-5 non-conference win over Southern Arkansas University at Goodheart Field in Magnolia.

ATU (22-13) finished with 16 base hits, 12 of which were singles.

The nationally 22nd-ranked Muleriders (21-11) committed a season-high six errors.

Arkansas Tech starting pitcher Drake Norton (4-1), the reigning Great American Conference pitcher of the week, allowed five runs on five hits over five innings of work. He recorded five strikeouts and issued five walks.

Relief pitchers Kohl Drake and Nolan Withrow combined to get the final 12 outs for the Wonder Boys.

Arkansas Tech will host Northwestern Oklahoma State University for a three-game GAC series at Carl Baswell Field in Russellville on Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6.
