Arkansas-Monticello brought the nationally top-ranked Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys’ remarkable run as the final unbeaten team in NCAA men’s basketball to an end on Thursday night with a 58-51 win over Tech at Steelman Field House in Monticello.
The Boll Weevils (13-10 overall, 8-5 Gulf South Conference) outscored the Wonder Boys 9-1 over the final 1:04 to record the upset.
Tech (25-1, 12-1) got 13 points from Brandon Friedel.
Anthony Lacey had 14 points and 10 rebounds for UAM.
The Wonder Boys will conclude their 2009-10 regular season by hosting Christian Brothers at 6 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.
