Wonder Boys Announce 2010 Schedule

Arkansas Tech will play an 11-game schedule during the 2010 football season, including one appearance on national television.

Steve Mullins, athletic director and head football coach at Arkansas Tech, announced the schedule on Tuesday.

The Wonder Boys will open their 96th football season by hosting Lambuth University (Tenn.) at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.

The following Thursday, Arkansas Tech will visit Delta State. It will be counted as a non-conference game.

CBS College Sports Network, which is Channel 123 on Suddenlink digital cable in the Russellville area, will televise the game live for a national audience.

Kickoff for the Wonder Boys and the Statesmen at McCool Stadium at Parker Field in Cleveland, Miss., is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9.

Arkansas Tech will open Gulf South Conference play with a home game against Henderson State on Saturday, Sept. 18.

The Wonder Boys will also play home GSC games against Ouachita Baptist (Oct. 9), Southern Arkansas (Oct. 16) and Valdosta State (Oct. 30).

Tech must go on the road for conference contests with Arkansas-Monticello (Sept. 25), North Alabama (Oct. 2), West Alabama (Oct. 23) and Harding (Nov. 6).

The Wonder Boys will close out their 2010 regular season schedule by hosting Southwest Baptist for a non-conference game on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Special dates on the schedule include Family Day, which will coincide with the Sept. 18 game against Henderson State, and Homecoming, which is slated for the Oct. 16 game with Southern Arkansas.

The Wonder Boys were 9-3 overall during the 2009 football season. Arkansas Tech finished as GSC runner-up and it reached the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Tech has accumulated 520 all-time football victories, ninth-most in NCAA Division II history.
