Women's Golf Finishes 8th in Season Debut

Arkansas Tech finished eighth in the team standings and Kyla McIsaac started her senior year with a top-10 finish at the Northeastern State University Golf Classic at Cherry Springs Golf Club in Tahlequah, Okla., on Monday and Tuesday.

The Golden Suns returned team scores of 333 and 330 for a 36-hole total of 663 to finish in the middle of a 16-team field. Host Northeastern State shot 303-313 for a 616 total and a 13-stroke victory over runner-up Midwestern State.

McIsaac followed up her opening-round 78 on Monday by shooting 80 on Tuesday. Her 36-hole score of 158 was good for a share of seventh place in the individual standings.

Lizi Sweetnam (T-36th, 84-84-168), Ana Morales (T-40th, 85-84-169), Niki Possage (T-47th, 89-82-171) and Alyssia Duvall (T-60th, 86-91-177) also represented Arkansas Tech in its season-opening tournament.

Northeastern State’s Whitney McAteer (73-77-150) won the individual title by one stroke over Midwestern State’s Taylor Klutts (73-78-151) and Incarnate Word’s Joanna De Sa Peirera (79-72-151).

The Golden Suns will compete in the Harding Fall Classic at River Oaks Golf Club in Searcy on Sept. 20-21.
