Women's Golf Finishes 6th at Drury

Rebecka Surtevall carded a second-round 75 and Emilie Alpe shot a second-round 77 as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns golf team posted a two-day total of 639 to finish in sixth place at the 2012 Drury Fall Shootout in Springfield, Mo., Sept. 10-11.

The Golden Suns shot 314 for the final round, improving the team score by 11 strokes from the opening round.

Taylor Kline finished tied for 48th with rounds of 84 and 83, Niki Possage returned scores of 89 and 79 to tie for 55th and Megan Jeffery shot 87-85 to finish tied for 63rd. Tech’s Megan Kelley competed as an individual and tied for 67th after shooting 84-89.

Alpe and Surtevall finished three strokes behind individual medalist Ana Gomez of Southwestern Oklahoma State, who led her team to a first-place overall finish as well.

The Golden Suns will return to action in next weekend’s Northeastern State Classic in Tahlequah, Okla. Competition is slated for Sept. 17-18.
