Arkansas Tech University’s women’s golf team finished second in the 14th annual Northeastern State University Classic at Cherry Springs Golf Club in Tahlequah, Okla., on Sept. 17-18.
The Golden Suns posted a 36-hole team score of 621 to finish as runner-up among a 13-team field.
Tournament host Northeastern State won the event with a 36-hole total of 605.
Arkansas Tech’s Emelie Alpe and Rebecka Surtevall both finished in the top 10 of the individual standings.
Alpe shot 75-76 for a 151 total and sole possession of fifth place. Surtevall returned scores of 77 and 75. Her 152 total was good for a share of sixth place.
Megan Jeffery (12th, 78-78-156), Taylor Kline (T-38th, 89-76-165) and Niki Possage (T-45th, 86-83-169) also contributed to the Golden Suns’ team score.
Arkansas Tech’s Megan Kelley (T-52nd, 82-91-173) competed as an individual.
Harding University’s Brittany Marquez won the individual title by four strokes. She had rounds of 71 and 72 for a 1-under par total of 143.
