Wheeler’s Walk-Off Wins it for Wonder Boys

Seth Wheeler’s walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th inning gave Arkansas Tech University a 6-5 victory over Lyon College in non-conference baseball at Tech Field in Russellville on Tuesday night.

Lyon (28-14) led 5-2 after four innings. The Wonder Boys’ comeback started with a Dylan McDearmon two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. Two innings later, McDearmon drove in Marcus Wilson with the tying run on a single up the middle.

Two scoreless innings of relief pitching by Quentin Bowling (4-0) set the stage for Wheeler to deliver a 10th-inning double to center field that brought Jake Harvey home with the winning run.

It was the seventh win in the last eight games for the Wonder Boys (25-14).

Arkansas Tech will play a three-game Great American Conference series at the University of Arkansas-Monticello on Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15. First pitch is scheduled for noon both days.
