Wescott Goes Deep Twice in Win at HSU

Arkansas Tech University’s Cody Wescott went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four runs batted in to lead the Wonder Boys to a 10-3 non-conference win over Henderson State University at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia on Tuesday.

The Wonder Boys (22-13) rapped out 15 base hits on their way to a fourth consecutive victory.

Michael Post went 3-for-4 with three runs scored for ATU, while Marcus Wilson, Dylan McDearmon and Seth Wheeler added two hits apiece.

Wilson had two RBIs.

Nate Rutherford (1-1) started on the mound for the Wonder Boys and limited the Reddies to three runs on eight hits over six innings. He recorded five strikeouts.

Branden Bohuslav held Henderson State without a run or a hit over two innings of relief and Kyle Gibbs pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth to secure Tech’s victory.

Reddie starting pitcher Austin Cross (1-1) was charged with five runs on eight hits in six innings.

Arkansas Tech will host Southeastern Oklahoma State University for a three-game GAC series at Tech Field in Russellville on Friday, April 7, and Saturday, April 8. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
