Golden Suns Remain No. 1

Arkansas Tech maintained its No. 1 national ranking in the first 2010-11 regular season USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II women’s basketball top 25 poll, which was released by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

The Golden Suns (4-0) were ranked No. 1 in the preseason national poll, and they haven’t done anything to discourage voters from that stance.

Arkansas Tech has won its first four games by an average margin of 53.7 points per contest. The Suns are averaging 104.5 points per game.

This marks the 15th consecutive USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II women’s basketball top 25 poll that has included Arkansas Tech. The Golden Suns have been voted inside the top 10 of the poll in 11 consecutive rankings.

Tech received 20 of the 30 first-place votes in this week’s poll.

Arkansas Tech’s women will play road games at West Alabama (2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27) and West Georgia (4:30 p.m. CST on Monday, Nov. 29) during the coming week.

Both games will be broadcast on KWKK 100.9 FM. The broadcasts will be streamed over the Internet at www.athletics.atu.edu.
