Warnick Named Apple Distinguished Educator

Dr. Jason Warnick, assistant vice president for student success and associate professor of psychology at Arkansas Tech University, has been selected to the Apple Distinguished Educator class of 2017.

“Apple is pleased to welcome Jason Warnick to the ADE Class of 2017,” reads a statement from the Apple Disintguished Educator team. “The Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) program began in 1994, when Apple recognized K-12 and higher education pioneers who are using a variety of Apple products to transform teaching and learning in powerful ways. Today it has grown into a worldwide community of over 2,500 visionary educators and innovative leaders who are doing amazing things with Apple technology in and out of the classroom.”

A member of the ATU faculty since 2006, Warnick earned Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees from Arkansas State University, while his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees are from the University of Mississippi.

His service at ATU has included serving as chair of the 2015-16 strategic planning committee and as director for the ATU Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Warnick received the 2014 Arkansas Tech Faculty Award of Excellence in the service category, the 2015 Arkansas Tech Faculty Award of Excellence in the scholarship and creative activity category and the 2016 Arkansas Tech Faculty Award of Excellence in the teaching category.

He is the only faculty member in ATU history to win a Faculty Award of Excellence in each of the three possible categories.

The student body elected Warnick ATU professor of the year at the conclusion of the 2012-13 academic year.
