Perhaps it would be more newsworthy if Sarah Von Lienen had not earned a Gulf South Conference West Division weekly volleyball honor on Tuesday.
After all, the Arkansas Tech senior has now collected 14 such awards during her remarkable four-year career with the Golden Suns.
Von Lienen, a 6-foot-2 middle blocker from Lakeland, Tenn., is this week’s GSC West Division offensive player of the week. She had 35 kills and a .439 hitting percentage while leading the Golden Suns to league wins over Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist last week.
Her play has helped Arkansas Tech accumulate an overall record of 22-4 and a GSC mark of 7-1 this season. The Golden Suns are tied for first place in the GSC West Division with four regular season conference matches remaining.
Arkansas Tech will visit Harding for a 7 p.m. match at Rhodes Field House in Searcy on Thursday.
