Volunteers Needed for El Paso Events

Arkansas Tech University students will partner with Uncommon Communities of Pope and Yell Counties during October 2016 to help members of the campus community and citizens of the Arkansas River Valley #ExperienceElPaso.

Volunteers are needed for a pair of events that will support the planned revitalization of the North El Paso Avenue corridor between Russellville Downtown and Arkansas Tech.

On Saturday, Oct. 8, there will be a Clean-Up El Paso event from 8 a.m.-noon. Volunteers will mow, paint, clear brush and perform other duties as assigned.

Clean-Up El Paso will set the stage for Pop-Up El Paso, which is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

On its Facebook page, Uncommon Communities of Pope and Yell Counties describes Pop-Up El Paso as a block party that will serve as a “live rendering of what is possible on El Paso Avenue linking downtown Russellville and ATU.”

Uncommon Communities is seeking Arkansas Tech students to serve as volunteer support personnel during Pop-Up El Paso.

“Shops, services, parks, food trucks, music and transportation options will all be demonstrated in a festival atmosphere,” continues the information provided by Uncommon Communities of Pope and Yell Counties. “By creating a fully functional space, even if for a day, the citizens of Russellville will be able to envision the future of El Paso Avenue.”
