Volleyball Team Begins Practice

Members of the Arkansas Tech volleyball team returned to the Arkansas Tech campus this week to begin practice.

The Tech squad returns four starters and 12 letterwinners from last season’s team, in addition to five newcomers.

Coach Kristy Bayer says the team is in great physical shape and is ready to work.  She adds, “The team came back in great shape this preseason. I can tell that they were committed to their summer workouts.”

Bayer says because of her team’s experience they have been “able to jump right into more advanced drills and team activity.”

Bayer says one of the biggest challenges her team will face is a demanding travel schedule.  She adds, “We play some tough regional competition early on. We are looking forward to our first Great American Conference season.”

The Golden Suns were tabbed as a preseason favorite in the GAC Coaches’ Poll, which was released earlier this month.

The Golden Suns are set to open their season on Sept. 2-3 when they travel to Kansas City, Mo., to compete in the Rockhurst Classic.
