Viticulture, Enology Courses Available in Russellville

Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus will offer two introductory viticulture and enology spring courses at Morton Hall in Russellville.

The spring semester runs Jan. 11 through May 3. The courses will meet at Morton Hall located at 1700 West “C” St.

Survey of Grapes and Wines will meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 12:50 p.m. This introductory wine course will help familiarize students the major wine-producing regions of the world including differences in grapes and wines from those regions.

Introduction to Viticulture will meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2-2:50 p.m. This course in the vineyard management is for those wishing to enter the commercial grape-growing industry or create and maintain a small, backyard vineyard for personal use.

Students will gain the knowledge to start their own vineyard including site selection, design and layout, grape variety, trellis systems, pruning and fertilization, disease and insect pest control, harvesting and more.
