Via, Wood Commissioned as National Guard Officers

Two graduating seniors at Arkansas Tech University were commissioned as second lieutenants in the Arkansas Army National Guard during a ceremony at Witherspoon Auditorium in Russellville on Friday, Aug. 6.

Logan Via of Russellville was commissioned as an infantry officer, while Kolbey Wood of Clarksville was commissioned as a field artillery officer. Via and Wood completed the U.S. Army ROTC program as part of their course of study at Arkansas Tech.

Via is graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in wellness and fitness. Wood has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture business.

Capt. John P. Mitchell served as guest speaker at the commissioning ceremony. Capt. Kevin T. Niemczyk was master of ceremonies.
