Valentine's Night Special: Tech vs. CBU

Last week’s winter weather has provided basketball lovers in the Arkansas River Valley with an unexpected Valentine’s Day treat.

Arkansas Tech University and Christian Brothers University will play a doubleheader at Tucker Coliseum tonight (Monday, Feb. 14).

The games were originally scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 10, but they were postponed when Russellville received approximately seven inches of snow last week.

Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. for the women’s game between the nationally fifth-ranked Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (19-2 overall, 8-1 Gulf South Conference) and the Christian Brothers Lady Buccaneers (8-13, 1-8).

The men’s contest between the nationally 14th-ranked Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys (18-3, 9-0) and the Christian Brothers Buccaneers (17-6, 5-4) will begin at 7:30 p.m.

It will be “Project: Feed Arkansas Night” at Tucker Coliseum.

Members of the general public can gain discounted admission ($5 for adults, $3 for students high school age and younger, $3 for senior citizens) by donating one or more non-perishable food items to the Arkansas Rice Depot at the door.

Those with a valid Tech identification card will be admitted free, but are still encouraged to bring one or more non-perishable food items.
