Tyler Honored at Retirement Reception

Dr. Tom Tyler, dean of the College of Business and professor of economics, was recognized at a retirement reception held in his honor Wednesday in the Chambers Cafeteria East Dining Room.

During Thursday’s reception, Tyler received a plaque from Dr. Robert C. Brown, Tech president, for his service to the university.  He also received a gift from his colleagues within the College of Business.

Tyler joined the Arkansas Tech faculty in 1967, and he will retire in June after 43 years of service to Arkansas Tech University.

“I am so thankful to all of my faculty colleagues and friends here at Arkansas Tech for your support and care over the past 43 years,” added Tyler.  “I have had such wonderful support from the leadership at this institution over the years.  This institution is a great place to work, and it was a very wise decision when I decided to join this faculty 43 years ago.”

Tyler says he’ll miss being part of the faculty at Arkansas Tech.  He adds, “This has been a special place for me, and I’ll miss all of you very much.  That said, I will never forget any of you, Arkansas Tech or the College of Business.”

Tyler says he and his wife plan to travel and “enjoy the next phase of life together.”
