Two Wonder Boys Selected Preseason All-GSC

Two defensive players — Tario Dansby and Brandon Wright — represent Arkansas Tech on the 2010 preseason All-Gulf South Conference football team, which was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Dansby is a senior safety from Ashdown, while Wright is a senior linebacker from Stuttgart.

The Wonder Boys return 10 starters — four on offense and six on defense — and 45 lettermen from a team that was 9-3 overall in 2009. Tech finished as GSC runner-up and it reached the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs last season.

Dansby (photographed) was the leading tackler for the 2009 Wonder Boys. He made 73 stops and recorded four interceptions. Dansby broke up seven passes, made three tackles for loss and forced two fumbles during his junior campaign.

Wright was a big-play specialist for Arkansas Tech last season. Ten of his 29 tackles came behind the line of scrimmage. He had two quarterback sacks, a fumble recovery and an interception in 2009.

The Wonder Boys are picked to finish fifth in the GSC in 2010. Click here to read more about the preseason poll.

Arkansas-Monticello and Ouachita Baptist lead the preseason All-GSC team with five selections apiece. Valdosta State has four representatives on the honor squad, while North Alabama, Southern Arkansas and West Alabama had three preseason All-GSC selections.
