Two Golden Suns Recognized by GAC

A sophomore from Carrollton, Texas, Konsella opened the week with a career-high 25 kills in a win over Cameron University on Tuesday, Sept. 30. She went on to record 67 kills over four matches while helping the Golden Suns go 4-0 for the week.

Nighswonger also set a new career high in a statistical category last week, and then she broke her own personal best again. The senior from Council Bluffs, Iowa, notched 57 assists in the win over Cameron. Three days later, she surpassed that career-best mark by making 63 assists in a victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State University. For the week, Nighswonger had 190 assists, 11 service aces and 38 digs.

Arkansas Tech (14-5 overall, 6-1 GAC) is in first place in the Great American Conference volleyball standings. The Golden Suns, winners of six consecutive matches, will continue GAC action this week with a road match against the University of Arkansas-Monticello at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, and a home match against Southern Arkansas University at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9.
