The Great American Conference announced that Arkansas Tech Golden Suns junior Amber Cerrillos is the setter of the week and junior Sara Motsinger is the offensive player of the week in recognition of their performances during the first week of the 2012 volleyball season.
Cerrillos (photographed, left) won her sixth GAC setter of the week award (out of 11 ever awarded) after the Golden Suns went 3-1 at the Christian Brothers Invitational.
She notched three of the top five assists totals of the week and she twice posted double-doubles with digs. After the opening week of play, Cerrillos leads GAC with 10.75 assists per set and 0.81 service aces per set.
Motsinger (photographed, right) opened the 2012 season by hitting .345 with 50 kills in four matches. In the Golden Suns’ three victories, she hit .453.
Her .571 attack percentage against Lincoln Memorial ranks as the highest qualifying percentage in the league this season.
Motsinger earned her second career GAC player of the week award. She claimed a defensive player of the week award on Sept. 13, 2011.
