The Tunnel of Oppression originated in 1994 at the Western Illinois University and is now presented on many college campuses around the nation. Modeled after the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, the Tunnel strives to give people a way to experience oppression in a hands-on way. As part of the program, participants will be guided through a series of rooms or scenes that are aimed to educate and challenge participants to think deeply about issues of oppression. At the end of the tour, facilitators will allow participants the opportunity to discuss their experiences with one another.
