Trail of Tears Talk

The Arkansas River Valley Chapter of the Arkansas Archaeological Society will host “Adventures with an Adventurer” with Dusty Helbling and Dale Stewart September 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Baswell Techionery.

Dusty Helbling has spent the last two decades researching Cherokee ruins and the Trail of Tears routes in Western Arkansas. Dale Stewart is an explorer and filmmaker who has kayaked many of the world’s waterways.

For two weeks, Helbling and Stewart traveled through Cherokee landmarks from Little Rock to Fort Gibson and other regions where Cherokees lived along the water.

The program will discuss the life of the Native Americans through the Trail of Tears and the adventures that Helbing and Stewart had together as they tried to recreate and relive the experience.

The Event is hosted on behalf of the Tech Museum. For more information contact the Tech Museum at 479-964-0826 or tech.museum@atu.edu
