Three Volleyball Players Named All-Region

One of the most successful volleyball seasons in Arkansas Tech University history has yielded all-region honors for three Golden Suns.

Seniors Sarah Von Lienen and Kera Dukic and junior Laura Farney were all named All-NCAA Division II South Region at the conclusion of the 2010 volleyball season.

Von Lienen (photographed, left), a middle blocker from Lakeland, Tenn., was named all-region by Daktronics and the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Dukic (photographed, middle), a setter from White Lake, Mich., and Farney (photographed, right), an outside hitter from Morton, Ill., were both recognized as all-region performers by Daktronics.

Their play helped the 2010 Golden Suns finish with an overall record of 31-5 and an 11-1 mark in Gulf South Conference West Division play. The Suns won the GSC West championship and advanced to the second round of the GSC Tournament.

Von Lienen finished her senior season with 406 kills and 91 blocks. Her .341 hitting percentage ranked third in the Gulf South Conference. She was also third in the GSC in kills per game (3.76).

Dukic was 12th in NCAA Division II and first in the GSC in assists per game in 2010 (11.12). She posted 1,256 assists, 212 digs and 24 service aces this season.

Farney was seventh in the GSC in kills per game (3.09) during her junior campaign. She accumulated 349 kills, 345 digs and 50 blocks in 2010.
