Three Earn Faculty Awards of Excellence

Dr. Scott Kirkconnell, Dr. Carey Roberts and Dr. Timothy Smith earned the 2011 Arkansas Tech Faculty Awards of Excellence for their contributions to the campus community during the recently completed academic year.
 
Kirkconnell (photographed, top left) was presented with the Faculty Award of Excellence in the teaching category.

A professor of biology, Kirkconnell has served on the Arkansas Tech faculty since 1981. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois as well as a Master of Arts degree and a Ph.D. from Indiana University.
 
Roberts (photographed, top right) earned the Faculty Award of Excellence in the service category.

A member of the Arkansas Tech faculty since 2000, Roberts is an associate professor of history. He attained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Roberts went on to receive his Master of Arts degree and Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
 
Smith (photographed, bottom middle) won the Faculty Award of Excellence in the scholarship/creative activity category.

A 13-year veteran of the Arkansas Tech faculty and an associate professor of music, Smith completed his Bachelor of Music degree at St. Olaf College. He attained a Master of Music degree and a Ph.D. from Indiana University.
 
The Arkansas Tech Faculty Awards of Excellence were created in 1996. Nominees must be tenured and hold the current rank of associate professor or professor.
