Above average temperatures were not enough to deter approximately 7,000 people from attending Family Day 2010 at Arkansas Tech University on Saturday, Sept. 18.
The assembled crowd at Centennial Plaza enjoyed hot dogs and soft drinks courtesy of the Arkansas Tech Student Services Office, a pair of Elvis Presley tribute artists, inflatable bump-and-jump games and traditional tailgating games.
Chartwells was on hand with a picnic buffet, and the Arkansas Tech Alumni Association handed out 500 spirit buttons.
Family Day is an annual event sponsored by the Tech Student Services Office.
It is intended to give the families of first-time Arkansas Tech students an opportunity to meet the new people in their students’ lives and a chance to become part of the Tech family themselves.
After the pre-game activities wrapped up, a crowd of 6,730 attended the Family Day football game between Arkansas Tech and Henderson State.
